Las Vegas has a council-manager system of government, consisting of a mayor, four city council members, and a city manager.
The mayor is elected by the population of the entire city, while each of the city’s four wards elects one council member.
The mayor and council appoint the city manager, who is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the city government.
