Economy of Seoul


Seoul is the center of government, commerce, finance, and manufacturing in South Korea.

The federal and municipal governments are major employers in the city.

Important manufactures include textiles, clothing, metal products, chemicals, processed food, electrical and electronic equipment, machinery, and printed materials.

The Korea Stock Exchange is located on Youido Island.

Seoul Railway Station is the terminus of the main north-south and east-west railway lines in South Korea.

Seoul is also served by the major South Korean long-distance bus routes and major highways.

Incheon International Airport is located 52 km (32 mi) west of downtown Seoul.
